| Entrance Requirements A. Prerequisites to application for membership 1. An applicant candidate must be in good health both mentally and physically. 2. Must be of excellent character. 3. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and have a good driving record. 4. Must be available with the immediate area at least 40% of the time. 5. Applicant must be between the ages of 18 and 55 years with the exception of persons with experience, and then it is up to the department to decide if applicant is acceptable. A member must be 21 years of age to be allowed to drive any Fire Department vehicles. B. Application Procedure l. A committee of 3 Department members shall make up the Application Investigation Committee (AIC). Membership of this committee will be appointed by the Chief and will hold committee membership for a period of one (1) year. 2. An application may be obtained ONLY from an AIC member. 3. A completed application must be given to a member of the AIC. The committee will then have the application read to the department at the next business meeting. 4. A majority vote will then be required to decide whether to accept the application. (Rejected applicants may not resubmit an application for six months from the date of rejection.) 5. An accepted application will then be given to the AIC to be investigated for a period of one month. 6. The AIC will then submit a written report (signed by two or more committee members) to the department reflecting the results of their investigation. 7. A secret ballot vote will then be required. A 2/3 majority of members present will place an applicant as a probationary member 8. Applicants will be required to attend all training meetings after their application is accepted. An applicant shall NOT participate in any other fire department activities until voted in as a probationary member. An applicant who shows up on an emergency scene prior to be placed on probation status shall have his/her application withdrawn from consideration. There shall be NO EXCEPTIONS. |
